Plant-based dining is a trend that continues to grow. While 45 million consumers enjoy plant-based proteins regularly1, the fact is that 89% of them are not vegetarian or vegan. There has been a recent surge of up to 90%2 of consumers choosing plant-based alternatives.3 With 94% of Americans willing to eat more plant-based foods4, this trend is expected to continue with nearly 9 out of 10 consumers expected to retain interest in plant-based proteins.5

Many consumers are pro-protein with 61% of U.S. adults looking to add more protein to their diets regularly6, with some desiring a meat analogue product for that “just like meat” experience and others preferring traditional, plant-forward proteins. Consumers have differing tastes and preferences, so it’s important for restaurants to menu a variety of plant-based proteins.
